KLEAN: Alcohol Cessation Programme

The UK’s only medically-led ketamine-assisted alcohol cessation programme.

The KLEAN Alcohol Cessation Programme is a medically-led, evidence-based system designed to help you reset your relationship with alcohol from the inside out. By combining ketamine-assisted psychotherapy, structured therapeutic support, and medication-supported stability, KLEAN targets the three core drivers of alcohol dependence — psychological, emotional, and neurological.

Available as a 6- or 12-month pathway, the programme gives you the time, structure, and expert guidance required to create a healthier, trigger-free relationship with alcohol — not by forcing lifelong abstinence, but by rewiring the patterns that make alcohol feel overwhelming in the first place.

KLEAN is for individuals who want a future where you decide, not the drink: a future built on clarity, control, and the confidence that alcohol no longer dictates your mood, your choices, or your identity.

Who is The Klean Programme for?

KLEAN is designed for adults who want more than willpower, white-knuckling, or temporary abstinence. It’s for people who want a complete neurological, psychological, and emotional reset around alcohol – so that drinking is no longer charged, compulsive, or automatically triggered. This programme is tailored for individuals who recognise that alcohol has taken up too much space in their lives, but who also want to heal within their real world — not escape it in a 28-day inpatient treatment centre. KLEAN is for people who prefer a structured, medically-supervised, evidence-based programme that fits into daily life while addressing the root causes that drive drinking: neurobiology, stress-response, trauma patterns, emotional coping, and reward circuitry. It’s especially suited to those who are ready to understand why alcohol became a problem, resolve the underlying triggers, and rebuild a healthier, calmer relationship with themselves — whether their long-term goal is abstinence or a controlled, uncharged relationship with alcohol in the future. KLEAN is ideal for anyone seeking a rigorous yet compassionate programme that combines neuroscience, psychotherapy, and ketamine-assisted neuroplasticity to create lasting internal change, rather than temporary behaviour control.

Why Choose KLEAN Over a 28-Day Inpatient Stay

Most people relapsing after inpatient rehab don’t fail because they lack willpower — they relapse because the healing happened in an artificial environment. Real recovery must take place in the real world. With KLEAN, every part of your neurological, psychological, and emotional reset happens inside your actual life, not inside a treatment bubble. You heal in the same environment where alcohol once had power, meaning the new pathways you build are stable, resilient, and applicable immediately. Studies show that 40–75% of people relapse within the first six months after leaving inpatient treatment, largely because they return home without the skills, identity shifts, or neurological stabilisation to handle familiar triggers. KLEAN was designed to bridge that gap — long-term support, real-world integration, medical supervision, and phasing changes over months, not weeks. This is recovery that fits your life, strengthens your identity, and creates change that lasts.

Real-World Relearning

Inpatient facilities remove you from your triggers — but real healing requires learning how to stay steady within your actual environment. With KLEAN, neuroplasticity, therapy, and identity work happen right where old habits were formed, so new patterns are genuinely embedded and far more durable.

Long-Term Stability, Not Short-Term Detox

28-day programmes often end abruptly, right when the brain is still fragile. KLEAN provides structured support over 6–12 months, allowing gradual tapering, identity reinforcement, relapse-prevention training, and neurological consolidation during the critical first year of recovery.

Proven Reduction in Relapse Risk

Returning home is the moment most inpatient clients relapse. By contrast, KLEAN supports you in the environment where the challenges actually happen. Combined with medication support, ketamine-assisted neuroplasticity, and ongoing psychotherapy, this dramatically lowers relapse risk and builds genuine long-term resilience.

Maintain Your Life, Work, and Privacy

No time away from work. No disruption to family life. No uncomfortable group settings. KLEAN is discreet, clinically grounded, and designed for professionals who want expert-level care without stepping out of their lives to receive it.

The Three Areas of Self where Klean works

Neurology

Ketamine-assisted psychotherapy works at the level of neurobiology — resetting the reward pathways that alcohol has hijacked. During the early phase of treatment, ketamine disrupts the NMDA-mediated circuits involved in alcohol cravings, compulsive use, and fear-based prediction loops. This interruption creates a window of heightened neuroplasticity, allowing the brain to form healthier, more stable patterns. Over the programme, dopamine balance begins to normalise, the stress–response system becomes less reactive, and the neural links that once triggered automatic drinking lose their dominance. The result: a brain that no longer fires the old addiction signals.

Psychology

KLEAN rewires how the brain interprets alcohol, cravings, triggers, and reward. Through repeated ketamine–psychotherapy sessions, clients learn to dismantle the learned associations between alcohol and relief, pleasure, or escape. The reflective state induced by ketamine makes psychological work more effective, allowing deep insights into habit loops, cognitive distortions, and identity patterns that keep drinking alive. Over time, clients shift from “alcohol helps me cope” to “alcohol no longer has power over me.” It’s a psychological reset — clearer thinking, stronger agency, and genuine behavioural change.

Emotionality

This is where the deeper work happens — the emotional root system of drinking. Alcohol is rarely about alcohol. It’s about shame, stress, guilt, overwhelm, loneliness, childhood conditioning, perfectionism, or pressure. Ketamine opens access to these emotional layers without overwhelming the client, allowing them to process experiences that usually stay defended, avoided, or numbed. Through guided therapy, clients release long-held emotional burdens, update their sense of self, and repair the internal conflicts that alcohol once soothed. The emotional charge behind drinking dissolves — giving clients a sense of peace, dignity, and internal freedom.

Delving into KAP: A Closer Look

Understanding the specifics of a KAP session before walking through our doors can be incredibly beneficial.

This section will delve into what a typical session looks like, including the environment, process, and what to expect during and after treatment. It’s designed to provide a clear picture, easing any uncertainties and helping you feel more prepared and informed about your journey with us.

Your KAP session at our clinic is a blend of safety, professionalism, and understanding. Upon arrival, we conduct a thorough medical and psychological check. The ketamine dose, tailored to your treatment plan, is prepared. We then set the stage for the session, discussing your goals and intentions. The ketamine is typically administered intramuscularly, usually in the shoulder. As the session progresses, with appropriate music and guidance, our therapists adapt their approach to suit your needs, either engaging in silent support or responsive conversation. The KAP session lasts about 2.5hrs and the time of the ketamine influence is 30-40mins. Post-treatment, we ensure a comfortable space for discussing your experience and any insights gained. After feeling settled, you can confidently leave the clinic, followed by a detailed integration session a few days later to process and solidify your experience. You will be given a personalised guided meditation to listen to each day for 3 days after the KAP session to take advantage of the brains ability to form new connections and learn new habits.
